I think if you are watching the movie already understanding he's a character you can empathize and relate to in some ways, the ending goes down much smoother.

Not that he will behave perfectly from now on, but that his focus and priorities could shift and at least improve him.

But Marty is cool and Safdie and Chalamet know it! He's funny, he exudes an aura, even his ambition and drive has admirable elements which I'm sure the successful Hollywood creators related to while writing and filming, even if it leads the character to dark places.

Happening a lot with Marty Supreme, which people are either misinterpreting or upset at the ending of,

[spoilers ahead]

because they've decided they're Media Literate, and therefore know Marty is an unlikable narcissist unworthy and incapable of change.

I'd say most of them are spiritual successors of Riven more than Myst, which was better at being like this

Speaking of, the Riven remake from 2024 is fantastic.

I've seen them called knowledge-based puzzle games, or "Metroidbrainias" (which is definitely too clever and insular)

They actually do keep adding ticket sales to Rocky Horror's original domestic box office. It's just that maybe a couple not sold-out screens a week with a moderate uptick around Halloween isn't actually worth as much as you would expect. Not anywhere near even a domestic record let alone worldwide.

Each episode we read the book, watch the movie, and try to take an intelligent look at the adaptation that moves beyond just judging it on a checklist of accuracy, instead getting at the heart of the themes each reaches for.

They are lighthearted and intelligent conversations that I'm proud of.

I'm 2 years older than you and what I have to remind myself at this point is that these people can be 8 years younger than me and still be legal adults making these posts. And not all of them are adults anyway. So maybe they really didn't burn any CDs when they were 10 in 2017.

Film is (usually) more detailed than the 4K resolution, so they go back to original negatives or well preserved prints.

In general, movies shot on film stand to gain more from the format than digital ones.

There are fantastic looking silent era 4Ks, like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari!
