He was among those passionately in favor of invading Iraq, which I was doing my best to oppose, and we had polar-opposite views on many other fundamental left/right political and journalistic issues. He now argues that Trump is *the central* threat, which I agree with.

Yes. I still have an account, to avoid it being hijacked. But I have not posted anything there since Nov 2024, and look it (with increasing horror) every so often.

Apart from obvious reasons, an underappreciated one:
-All developed economies (every one) see birth-rates falling, as average income goes up.
-Euro countries, Japan, S Korea, + China & Russia have steeply aging population.
-US different *only* because of immigration.
