Splurt Meatball [19 September 2009 – 21 November 2025]

My sweetest of angels, without whom I am lost.

I’m such a huge fan of John Cale that I bought a ticket to this a while ago on the off chance that a bucket of money would magically appear between now and this weekend.

Going to break from this vehicle for the entirety of November.

The metaphoric house is on fire, and I need to focus on my long-desired goal of starting with a clean slate a long, long way away from what has always been a deeply unhappy locale for me.

Apparently, this lunatic post from the gilded fascist is real.

Also: “my” ballroom? Not “his” House to begin with.

I’ve been saying for two years now that the Oilers should offload this backend waste, but then they went ahead and overpaid him.

Episodes of The Twilight Zone showing overnight on City!

Turned on the Criterion Channel stream on returning home, and this Jack Bond-directed feature from 1988 is showing.

It’s really quite a lovely and charming piece of work.

Lest we all get too giddy about Doug Ford’s clever tariff broadsides against Emperor Tang, remember that Dougie’s primary motivations are:

1. To exert outsized and rogue/proxy influence/pressure over the PMO.

2. To distract from his own boatload of corruption and cronyism.

Canadian Press interviews Geddy Lee about the Jays as they head into the World Series, and I’m in full agreement with him on this point.

Leafs games are the worst for this sort of sonic pummelling. It doesn’t enhance the game; it ruins it.

I don’t have many CDs or LPs left since the great purge of 2013, but I’m glad I kept this box set.

I don’t know if Eleanor Roosevelt is able to smite anyone – or even if she’d want to if she had the capability – but if she’s able to convince a crack smite team wherever she is to issue several backhands and haymakers to the ghouls behind this East Wing ballroom grotesquerie, I’d appreciate it.

When I moved on as venue announcer for Toronto Roller Derby in 2012 after six years – it was incorrectly assumed to be retirement; I’d”m still going strong with NCRD in Sudbury – incoming ToRD announcer Mr. Whistler put together a lovely tribute video.

Plastik Patrik in Montréal remains my fave.

Current app front pages: NYTimes and The Guardian [UK], European edition.

The Guardian has declined in quality in the past year or two, but The Times is just beyond hope at this point.

These new Bruins away jerseys are sharp as hell, and deliberately reminiscent of the ones I wore in my teenage years.

They’re gonna dent my wallet before too long.

If Scott is talking about American cinematic releases of the past 30 years or more, I’d say he’s severely lowballing the percentage.
