A smart home dashboard should simply inform what is happening in your home not control it.
Like a car - the dashboard informs you what is happening - the gas, break and steering wheel control it. In a smart home the automation's control it. Don't use your dashboard to control it.

I have a new law of Home Projects... The more trivial or meaningless a project is - the more trips it will take to Home Depot to complete it. When discussing a project with a friend, always ask how many trips to HD did it take? >2 change the subject to something more important like the weather.
