Stop talking about immigration like undocumented migrants are just too lazy and flippant to fill out a simple, straightforward form. As an immigrant to the UK, I spent ~£8,000 on various application fees, legal fees for an appeal after my application was denied, and other related costs.

When I see requirements (from reviewers, funders, etc.) to motivate research in terms of economic benefits/ #commercialisation, I want to scream. #PublicGoods often have far-reaching economic benefits, but this should be a perk, not the driving reason. #PublicHealth #Science #ProfitCorrupts
Infographic from the World Health Organisation. Cartoon of Frederick Banting, co-discoverer of Insulin (1922) saying 'Insulin does not belong to me, it belongs to the world' on the left. On the right, cartoon of hands reaching for bottle of insulin. Above, it says 'Access to insulin is still out of reach for many who need it'. The caption below gives the WHO logo and explains 'In 1922, insulin co-discoverer Frederick Banting refused to profit from the discovery and offered it to the world as a global public good. Today, many people with #diabetes still don't have access to affordable and quality treatment and care. #BeatNCDs #UNGA'

'bout time. And yet, no doubt the still-to-be-announced 'new tapered system' will also be appalling and ultimately punitive 🙄😕

Gee, it's almost like disability and other social protection programs *aren't* the thing that's wasting taxpayer money 🤔🙄 maybe we should stop deifying industrialists while resenting marginalised people for simply trying to survive... Just a thought.

Every once in awhile, after an extended period of diligent self-care, I feel relatively ok & think 'maybe the docs who treated me like a hypochondriac before my diagnosis were right.' Then I disrupt my routine for even one day & my body forcefully screams 'Nope, you have a disability, fool.'

Yes, I think there is a lot of freedom and joy in adulthood associated w/(re-)discovering the things that you like and unabashedly enjoying them--for many, late childhood and adolescence can unfortunately be rife with shame.

Childhood: Yay, unicorns! This bookmark is so pretty!

Adolescence: Ugh, unicorns. I must discard all things which seem childish.

Adulthood: Yay, something useful amidst the clutter! I appreciate a high utility value!

RFK Jr. should’ve never been confirmed, & he’s proven that every day since. Children are literally dying from measles because of his lies & reckless anti-vax agenda. He is a threat to our health & our democracy. Public office has no place for deadly, deranged delusion. It’s time for him to resign.

Shame on you, #SCOTUS conservatives. You took an oath to support the Constitution then treated it like toilet paper. You do know that oath includes the amendments, right? Like this pesky little bit about equal protection under the law, for example. You evil, feckless, vile, weak little cronies 🤮😡

Catalina Curceanu explains electron tunneling and smell at XPANSE. Some researchers think receptors might use this quantum effect. The idea is still being tested.
