I was that receptionist.
Always tried to engage interviewees in conversation. If they ignored it or blanked me especially those going for senior roles, then I made sure that my thoughts were known to bosses.

I had to include Beef Curtains in a best man's speech. Being a naive yokel i did not have a clue what it meant so had to ask. Managed it with comparative ease.
