Those savannas next to the river that experienced flooding a few months ago are now ready to burn (flood-sensitive grasses); savannas further from the river are green (non-flammable).
Flooding enhances fire, i.e., water and fire are complementary forces in Los Llanos del Orinoco, Colombia.

Este libro me abrió los ojos en su día. Para mi es imprescindible si se quiere entender el rol que juega el fuego en los espacios naturales.
La mayor parte de la población tiene ideas preconcebidas sobre esto completamente erróneas, lo que lleva a que a veces se propongan cosas sin sentido.

No flammable plants living in a flammable fuel bed:
Even young Chaparros (Curatella americana) & Alcornocos (Bowdichia virgilioides) survive postfire thanks to their low-flammability strategy (sensus dx.doi.org/10.1111/1365...), Llanos del Orinoco.
