I agree, but I’ve had this feeling on other “off year” or special election nights - I always want the whole coverage to be focused on that, but they seem to save that for midterms and presidential years

I have never understood why they do this. Every election night warrants a full night following just that. When else do we learn so much so quickly?

... I miscounted the number of skeets I wanted to make. 😅 Anyway, if you see this, thanks for listening, you're awesome, take courage and keep on fighting the good fight. (7/7)

@jonlovett.bsky.social The other one is from 2020, in which he argues controversially but persuasively for a "one state solution" – an equal democracy where jews and arabs live side by side with equal rights. An end to apartheid. Take it or leave it, and regardless, thank you for what you do. (6/7)
Opinion | I No Longer Believe in a Jewish State (Published 2020)
For decades I argued for separation between Israelis and Palestinians. Now, I can imagine a Jewish home in an equal state.

@jonlovett.bsky.social So I thought you might be open to reading a challenging perspective from somebody who, in my judgment as a huge fan of yours, has very similar values to yours. Beinart has published two must-read NYT op-eds. The most recent one is from this month, in response to Oct 7. (5/7)
Opinion | There Is a Jewish Hope for Palestinian Liberation. It Must Survive.
Ethical resistance is the answer to grief and rage.

@jonlovett.bsky.social I know I'm a nobody, and you don't owe it to me to read anything I suggest (or maybe you already have!), so please forgive me if this comes across as obnoxious haranguing. My thinking is only: I'm a huge fan of yours, and of Beinart's, for basically the same reasons. (4/7)

@jonlovett.bsky.social In your comments, I heard no urgency to fix the underlying problem: for decades, Palestinians have not been able to vote for, or have any democratic representation in, the government that de facto controls their lives (Israel's). I then wondered if you had read Beinart. (3/7)

@jonlovett.bsky.social I heard your passionate and honest thoughts about Israel/Palestine on PSA today. I'm not Jewish, and I don't work in politics. I have certainly not read as much about this topic as you have. But one person whose writings have been very persuasive to me is Peter Beinart. (2/7)

That makes sense! And it really is nice that the place isn’t full of spam bots.

But realistically, I think the only way they’d be caught is when the effect fails to replicate.

There is some literature on distinguishing real human “random” noise from computer-generated random numbers, e.g. link.springer.com/article/10.3... . Also reminds me of techniques to catch financial fraud (e.g. Benford’s law en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benford... )
