If it weren’t for the letters normally present, I’d be lost.

The aftermath. Nothing damaged or broken. The cubs slid open and squeezed through a small window.

Flour, vegetable oil, and BBQ sauce (also known as culinary epoxy) was tracked around the house.

A few years ago, Mom waited outside, enjoying the view, while her two cubs ransacked my kitchen.

CNO Lisa Franchetti. Another high ranking woman. Sigh.

You can do some mitigation, like encrypting the message body, but that requires some tech-savvy *and* agreement from both sides on the method used.

It still leaves your metadata exposed.

(S/MIME is the official std. used to encrypt, with good client support, but good luck setting it up. Misery.)

On top of this, it doesn’t take a nation-state to compromise a mail server and intercept e-mail while “in flight” to/from another server, Proton or otherwise.

The only thing Proton buys you is encryption while your mail is “at rest” on their servers and only accessed using their client apps.

Outside e-mail sent to or from a proton mail account is not secure unless you work to encrypt the body of the message before sending.

By default, messages are transmitted “in the clear” unless the destination server is configured to use a secure channel. Not all of them are, and you can’t tell.

Fastmail FTW. Stable, push notifications, lots of knobs to play with, supports all email clients, custom domain support, etc.

ProtonMail marketing has always made me chuckle. Anyone selling you e-mail privacy is definitely selling you *something*, but it ain’t privacy.
