His first English language* film! (*also in Norweigan and Romanian). It was quite like Anatomy of a Fall in tone and I think it will do well, particularly with that casting.

My copy arrived today, looking forward to getting stuck in!

KoH Director’s Cut is one of my favourites! Napoleon isn’t anywhere near that lush and creative but has some nice added depth and integrity in longer form that for me make it one of his best late works (though still a tad plodding).

Also this longer version of Napoleon makes me wonder what else the longer Gladiator II (also David Scarpa) contains!

Haha yeah I totally missed that in the theatrical but laughed when I saw it this time around. It’s a canonical Aussie bit that we very much appreciate 😂

I don’t think I was quite convinced that was what they were doing before I saw the longer cut 😅 Phoenix’s buffoonery does get a little lost in the longer running time.
