Republican Matt Van Epps and Democrat Aftyn Behn will face off in a special election for the 7th Congressional District seat after securing their party nominations Tuesday. Behn ran as a progressive, advocating that the only way a Dem could win was with an energized turnout. @tennesseelookout.com

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

I bet those Democratic House Caucus meetings going to be awkward this year.

My guess would be that Dixie focused on Davidson and Montgomery Counties --and he did crush Davidson County.

Copeland spent around half and mil and Behn around $160,000.

You called it: Aftyn has been organizing in Williamson County since 2017 and the WCDP gave her an award last year: I'd go so far as to say she's beloved.

Decision desk, HQ has called the Democratic primary and congressional district 7 Rep. Aftyn Behn. Behn spent less money than any of the three other candidates.

With 95% in: it's Behn-28.1, Copeland-24.8, Mitchell-23.9 and Dixie-23.2.
jhollymc.bsky.social
With 86% reporting in Tennessee CD7, Rep. Aftyn Behn leads Rep. Bo Mitchell 27.7% to 25.1%. Newcomer Darden Copeland is tied with Mitchell and Rep. Vincent Dixie is posting 22.2%. The four are separated by 1,393 votes.

I told someone early on I thought Behn would perform very well in Montgomery County, as she's been organizing up there since 2017 with Indivisible and the Tennessee Justice Center.

Rep. Vincent Dixie is whipping butt in Davidson County. A Williamson County friend remarked that Darden Copeland was the only candidate who appeared to be campaigning. My response was that Rep. Dixie likely saw better places to expend his energy.
