Illinois does that. I’m paraphrasing but it’s like: We think you made a mistake on your tax filing so we corrected it and changed your refund. If you believe this is an error, please contact us.

I was wrong. They were right.
No muss. No fuss.

When Weird Al Yankovic asked Cobain about doing a parody of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, Cobain asked if it was going to be a song about food.
Yankovic said “No, it’s going to be a song about how nobody can understand your lyrics.“
Cobain thought that was funny and gave his ok.

Geneva Conventions (1949):
Wounded, shipwrecked, or otherwise incapacitated persons must be collected and cared for. Killing them is unlawful.

Along that line you’d also be interested in the Laconia incident.

Undoubtedly, these types of events are why the Geneva convention included a rule about rescuing shipwreck survivors.

• Geneva Conventions (1949): Wounded, shipwrecked, or otherwise incapacitated persons must be collected and cared for. Killing them is unlawful.

• Customary Law of the Sea (UNCLOS, SOLAS, SAR): Imposes a duty to rescue persons in distress at sea.

Putin reminds me of Æsop’s fable of the Wolf and the Lamb, where the wolf’s pretexts for eating the lamb keep being disproven.

“Well, then,” snarled the Wolf, “… no matter who it was, I do not intend to be talked out of my breakfast.”

The tyrant can always find an excuse for his tyranny.

We’ve forgotten what these preventable diseases look like. They should show it on the news, or on healthcare professionals funded PSAs (since our govt won’t). Remind us that survival could still mean life with a debilitating condition.
There’re no guarantees in life, but vax’s improve your odds.

In April, Rubio shut down the dept. that was countering foreign disinformation.
“Rubio in a statement said he was closing the State Department's Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference office, previously known as the Global Engagement Center.”

P.S. The “USA is too large for socialized medicine” argument is spurious. China (1.4 billion), India (1.4 billion), and Brazil (215 million) all have socialized medicine. We’re Americans. We’re smart enough to figure it out. It’s a question of desire.
November 12, 2025 at 1:18 AM
We should look at it. Canada spends about 10% of it‘s GDP on healthcare, the USA is 17%. Our system is inefficient and a crap-shoot, pick the wrong coverage and it’s going to cost you.

Note: Cooking a turkey at such high speeds is not feasible and would not be safe or practical. Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey is fully cooked.

For example, an 8-pound turkey would take about 1 to 2 minutes to cook at this speed, but this is purely theoretical and not practical for real-world cooking scenarios.
November 6, 2025 at 8:01 PM
However, without specifying the oven's temperature, the general rule for cooking a turkey is about 12 to 13 minutes per pound at 325°F. Therefore, if you were to cook a turkey at 60 mph, the cooking time would be extremely brief, potentially within seconds, depending on the oven's
