#faa Halts All Flights at #elpaso Airport for 10 Days

No flights would be allowed to or from the airport for 10 days under a flight restriction order that cited unspecified “special security reasons.”

In a move that appeared to surprise local officials & airlines, the restriction went into […]

[racism]

I find the way that some people understand what is and isn't racism mystifying.

TO ME? Saying (lying!) about Black Haitian immigrants "eating cats and dogs" is wildly racist and probably worse than putting the most powerful and untouchable Black American couple in a racist video as […]

so it seems like the beneficial parts of DHS (ie, whatever is left of CISA) would get shutdown in an appropriations lapse, but ICE has appropriations from the BBB and would be unaffected. is there another way this plays out?

This is the authoritarian tell:

If a judge rules against your preferred outcome, declare the judge illegitimate.

If that mindset takes hold, courts stop being guardrails and become targets.

Democracy cannot survive a government that believes the law only counts when it wins.

par for the course for conservative christianity, but still. wow.
