I am always surprised that the US debate on that subject seems totally exempt of comparison with democracies that have implemented them more or less successfully… there is a possibility that it is instrumentlized or that it creeps to more and more categories… but the lack of such regulation… 1-

Well, Europe has hate speech laws much more than the US, and while we have a right wing rise, you are further ahead… so they are not inherently bad.
I find US political debate has a lot of those « taboos » without ever looking if it works in other democracies ( strike the other )

Quite crazy to me as a French citizen, having had all my life an ID card in a democratic country that this concept is in the Us associated only to authoritarian regimes… isn’t it crazy that only people that drive cars are able to prove their identity ?
