A comic strip based upon the themes presented in the BBC TV show 'Gone Fishing With Mortimer and Whitehouse'. Panel One: The narrator stands with a fishing rod and a fishing net. He says "Hey folks, grab your waders. We're gonna go deep today." Panel Two: Title Panel. The Escape Route. Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. Panel Three: Narration. "So, Christmas has been and gone, and with it you may have revisited some terrific traditions. The ride home for Christmas. The cursed gift of black coal. And, of course, the shared viewing of Christmas TV. The Narration is accompanied by three images. The first image shows a car driving Chris Rea home for Christmas. His three hours of singing have frustrated the driver. The second image shows our narrator angry with Santa for his gift of coal. The third features Feathers McGraw, a villain from the Wallace and Gromit films. Panel Four: Our narrator, with his fishing gear walks through a scenic nature scene towards a river. He narrates: "For me, one of the TV highlights is Gone Fishing' with Whitehouse and Mortimer. Now, at first glance this may appear a full choice. I mean, on its surface, what is this show?"
