This was the original plan of the ACA...to have a public option. If it passed as planned, I do believe the US would have a system like Australia's by now: Medicare for *all*; private insurance at a far lower cost for those who want it.

Hardly a day goes by I don't think about those kids. It really impacted me...and was the camel-breaking straw that led me to Australia. Where is their stadium memorial?

Honestly, that’s the thing sickens me the most. Kids getting shot in school are treated as unfortunate but necessary victims…while Kirk is martyred.

I was paying over $1,000 a month for awful coverage when I lived in the US. How can the average family afford it? Private insurance shouldn't be the only option. The Medicare for all system in Australia is 1,000,0000x better (& much more affordable/efficient!) I wish more Americans would demand it.

As an American in Australia, it blows my mind that there are people (Americans) out there against Medicare for All. Do they like paying thousands more to make CEOs filthy rich and have a middleman deny care coverage?

I would not step foot in Texas if I didn't have to. All of the massive trucks, gun billboards, and abandoned dogs running alongside the highway aren't my vibe. I find it pretty depressing. Plus, stepping out of the airport feels like being sucked into Hell.

Obviously, M4All isn't happening during this admin...but every American should demand it. It's so ridiculous to have a system where coverage is tied to your job & can be denied by a useless middleman. In Australia, I pay thousands less than I did in the US. Private ins. is also available.

I live in Australia now (so no longer an issue), but I always just went to a walk-in clinic and paid cash in the U.S. because it cost more to use my crappy $1,000/month insurance.

That's probably the #1 reason I moved to Australia...that and the absurd healthcare system, Christian nationalists...and the whole electing a felon/Epstein's BFF thing. I hate to be a pessimist, but I don't see things getting better.
