First demonstration I ever went to was in Portland about 1966 or '67. We wore suits and ties! I was standing behind a minister who crossed the police line and got clubbed brutally in the kidneys.

She was nominated for AG precisely because Trump knew she was a quid-pro-quo crook. How did he know? Because he bought her off for $25K himself! She was considering joining the NY suit against Trump University, but, after accepting a $25K donation to her PAC, declined.

I lived in Portland OR from '66 to '74 and I agree it was a dark place! The sun disappeared from October to April. Everybody was constantly damp. Worse, the infestation of hipsters was starting. I was afraid to go out to restaurants on account of all the beards and man buns.

If he is trying to make a comparison to George Floyd's murder he should understand the difference between a lone gunman with half-assed grievances and actions by an officer of the state carrying out a sort of murder we became so inured to that we white people didn't even want to call it murder.

I always thought it would be good for bullets to be traceable. One could create a tiny alloy bit of different metals that would encode a serial number, recorded when sold.

One of my earliest memories was of my parents and their friends celebrating McCarthy's censure. I must have heard somebody say he was "dead now" because I was confused a couple of years later when he drank himself to death. I thought he was already dead.

Yes! Many years ago I was an AutoCAD draftsman and my favorite project was a 3D rendering of a gravity-based storage system for pharmaceuticals that worked somewhat like a Pachinko machine. Anything with arrays of the same parts was fun.

I overstated the case to call it fraud. Like you say, it is pretty standard crap. Anyway, it was fun to burn through big piles of other people's money, and we were never publicly traded, so only the Sandhill Road guys got burned.

I was once party to some Oracle accounting fraud. Worked for a Dotcom with an Oracle board member on our board. They proceeded to sell us enough Oracle hardware to outfit a huge public-facing company, most of which was still boxed when we went out of business a year and a half later.

Mary Beth, do you have an opinion on "safer supply" programs as currently being explored in Canada? People I respect in the treatment community hold that amphetamines are too harmful to ethically prescribe, but I'm not sure I agree.

The GOP pushed an extreme reading of the 2nd Amendment which resulted in more guns in circulation than people in the USA. Now that any broken fool, left or right, can carry-out their sickest fantasies with little friction, they want to blame and "crush" the left over political violence.

Can a country be insane? Maybe it is just the sum of all the individual insanity, which is scarier. If a small fraction of us are loony-tunes and armed, that's enough to distort the "body politic" into something incompatible with democracy.

We don't know what sort of deal the DOJ reached with Ghislane Maxwell, but it wouldn't surprise me to hear her denounce Clinton and protect Trump. Re Bill and Hillary's marriage: The wealthiest and most influential people aren't like us. We can only speculate about their morals and actions.

USGS had it as 4.3 on the Richter and the epicenter at College and Parker in Berkeley. Our wall-mounted TV got rotated 90°. Calling my insurance agent!
