Kicking against the pricks
As I always say, keep kicking against the pricks.

It might also be about carving up territory between the US, China, and Russia.

None of this is new, none of it is particularly imaginative, most of it relies on a crippled class-ridden society, a defunct education and fervent distrust of science, and an eternal threat to national identity.

Who can predict? Hopefully, both the results of Brexit and the inept running of Reform Councils will suffice, and make up minds. For some, but not all.

Whether we like it or not, it is democracy and every vote matters (boring but true).

We've had Brexit and PMs Johnson and Truss, and we still have Farage and Reform, in the UK. We know what tribal insanity looks and sounds like, and we know where it comes from.

Indeed.

I believe there is enough evidence to show that his mantra is 'take, take, take and never give'.

On one hand, Trump needs to be surrounded by sycophants who perpetuate his fantasy; on the other hand he appears to warm to the likes of Mamdani, an obvious critic of his. He certainly fluctuates and is hard to predict one way or the other. Though there must be a more honest approach than Starmer's.

The US public have been given several chances of doing something about Trump. When they voted him in on the last occasion, they should've known he would rule over everyone like a Tudor King.

And you're blocked.

Oh dear. Here endeth the debate.
January 5, 2026 at 10:37 AM
That's my point, also. To me Labour look as if they're scared of their own shadow. I'm much much more fearful of what real right-wing leaders, like Farage, are stirring up in this country. I see their influence in everything.
January 5, 2026 at 10:35 AM
I understand your point of view, I hear it from many, but respectfully disagree. The Government are a huge disappointment to me also, but I see weakness, detachment and poor judgement in them, not evil incarnate and Vlad the Impaler.
January 5, 2026 at 10:24 AM
I may've spent too long away from the news to have a real understanding of Starmer's Labour.

But I do get the feeling that they're a very nervous government, and think it's better to remain uninspiring than to be bold. As if running the country was part of a tricky Jarndyce & Jarndyce probate case.

Do Denmark have a military presence on Greenland? Would they consider increasing it?

It would make Trump's interest in capturing it look all the more sinister.
January 4, 2026 at 11:31 PM
I get the feeling that there are a number of candidates who think they are.
January 4, 2026 at 11:03 PM
I might be wrong, but would Venezuela be deemed the easier target, the one Trump could invent more excuses for?

Like the bully who first picks on the smallest kid.

Political discourse is dead, I suppose.
January 4, 2026 at 9:02 AM
I'm unsure whether there can be any legal union coordination with regards to general strikes in the US, and how viciously these would be quashed. Those who are not part of the Trump tribe may have to be cornered with nowhere to go for them to defend their country like their lives depended on it.

No more Maduro is a good thing. To be toppled by a chaotic and lawless Trump government is guaranteed to usher in more chaos and lawlessness.
January 3, 2026 at 12:18 PM
There are vast differences between Zelenskyy and Maduro, but image Putin abducting the former, the hail of condemnation from the West would be justified.
January 3, 2026 at 11:21 AM
Of course, this is Trump and his government, but the rest of America needs to start proving itself. Up to now, I've wondered who they are. Who's actually fighting these fascist criminals?

They need to stand up and show themselves.

Is this the beginning of 2025 again?
