Earlier this year, a new club-buying app called FC100,000 was launched to considerable unmerited fanfare. It failed to buy Scunthorpe, but promised it would transform football ownership. But sometime in the last fortnight, its website was deleted and one of the two founders resigned.

Football is incredible.

Morecambe moments away from going bust and expulsion from the National League.

They’re finally taken over by Panjab Warriors and have a match on Saturday with a handful of players,

First act of the new owners?

Sacking manager Derek Adams.

While this sounds hopeful, it was never in doubt that the group that had EFL approval would receive it from the National League. And so nothing has actually changed - indeed, nothing will change until the deal is completed.

As the days tick down to the National League deadline, Morecambe's owner has issued a statement claiming a number of buyers remain interested, denying that he ghosted Panjab Warriors and attacking MPs for failing to get in touch with him before commenting.

We did a video hoping that Bond Group might see it and realise what the club means to people. (It's quite long!)

This is a really powerful reminder of what football clubs mean to their communities. Every team is a unique and valuable part of the pyramid, and none must be allowed to collapse through owner mismanagement or intransigence.

It's taken far too long for the rest of football to get interested in Morecambe's plight, but it has finally happened. Respect to the club's supporters for keeping up the fight and helping make Jason Whittingham famous.

Pardon my french, but look at this bullshit. Effortwise, this is maybe 1.5 out of 10 for magicking up a global company.

It's frankly disrespectful to Morecambe fans to yank their chains like this.

Very good piece here on the complex financial arrangements of Jason Whittingham at Morecambe, including some huge interest charges to the club on his loans to it.

The ownership fiasco at Morecambe is such a soap opera, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if JW turns round this week & claims he’s sourced sufficient funding to keep the club going & takes the club off sale! Such is his lack of business acumen, moral compass & common sense. Or he gets sectioned.
