Right now the threat to peace seems to be from the US, with whom they have worked, somewhat.

The LTN I live in doesn't close any roads to motor vehicles. It just means there's no advantage for them to rat-run via residential streets. Kids play football in the roads and walk to/from school safely.

If I have to drive, e.g., out of the city, I use the nearby arterial routes, same as before.

The bit.ly link hides in the preview the fact that this is from The Times which seems to have an anti-LTN agenda.

Even if you could hit ground level somewhere, somewhen, surely there would be an issue displacing the air that was there.

I don't know the implications of violating the Pauli exclusion principle. Perhaps your arrival produces a shockwave, killing the Grandfather you were hoping to meet.

Our loss of regional railways (Beeching) had a similar effect on us at the national level. We're car-bound in the countryside but with relatively sane public transport in some cities.
November 30, 2025 at 12:39 PM
Oh he lives in LA. Exactly the kind of car-bound hell I try to avoid. They lost the streetcar network and the city congealed around car use. I remember seeing from the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park, the thick layer of greasy air collecting above it. So EVs are a good step there I suppose.

BUT LOOK AT ALL THIS SOVEREIGNTY
November 29, 2025 at 11:08 PM
That looks good. How much was that vehicle (car?)? How did you charge it and how long does it take? And how long does it hold that if you don't use it? And how does the max range change as the battery ages and if you load up the vehicle?

Yes. I assume it's to conform to rules laid down by Ofcom. I prefer nts.live for this reason as well as the general eclecticism.

... Or stereotype those expressing them. I'd go for an EV if I could feasibly use and afford it. I'm literally choosing my next car now and I'd be happy to learn that I can do the above and take one on a couple of weeks camping holiday.
November 29, 2025 at 2:03 AM
Yes this is my situation. I live in London so don't drive around locally. My main use-case of a vehicle is to get to a place without public transport 130 miles away, potentially at no notice in the small hours (elderly parent in countryside).

It doesn't help when ppl scoff at concerns over EVs.

We do. It was particularly amazingly handy during lockdowns. Ours also does bread, potatoes and garden supplies such as soil.
