The evolution of this corrupt authoritarian regime and its use of military force may not be stopped at the ballot box, since there may not be any. These types of regimes are usually toppled by armed revolution to overthrow the dictator. I hope it doesn't go that far. This is the US, a democracy.

In 1961, Eisenhower warned, "The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic process." He referred to the Military-Industrial Complex, but also relevant to the current regime.
