Starcloud is affiliated with (?) part of(?) with Nvidia. Their business is putting data centers in space. They have a 13 page pdf Whitepaper at the link making the case for space based data centers.

I need a bigger screen, will read later

In 2016, on Wed night after election there was a massive demo in front of Trump Hotel in Chicago. Tens of thousands, not like that possfied demo in the Pic. Lots and lots of noise.

I was 4th floor of a facing hotel with view of demo

Slept fine, no noise made it to my room.

Seems wasted money

But she doesn't have a green card, does she? She's not here legally, right?

She's been here since 1999 on a tourist visa overstay and she *still* hasn't regularized her status? Sounds like it's not gonna happen.

Send her back to Brazil

I didn't see Condi Rice in the mix there?

Democrats sure hated her with the fire of a thousand suns.

Definitely NOT an AA hire (like Kamala) Condi had accomplished something in her life.

But the thing she was most reviled for was escaping the Democrat plantation

So you really don't know the difference.

Sad.

Apologies for saying it was disinformation.

Just ignorant, non-science, misinformation

That is what musk(?) said.

Gemini says 183twh consumed by us data processing 2024.

Cell phonesystems use 30mm mwh/yr (not sure if this is in the 183)

Probably double the 183 for hvac and other infrastructure.

About 40gw avg. Move half to space and it is 20 nuke plants

Thanks. Kind of what I thought.

Otoh, I wonder if making panels that could take advantage of double sunlight might be feasible?

The other problem is everthing downstream of the panels would limit total as well.

Why do you say "carbon", is carbon a problem?

I suspect you mean co2, don't you?

Miscalling it carbon is disinformation.

Stop it.

The main reason it doesn't pencil is cost per kg to orbit plus difficulties of working in space.

Musk has made and continues to make strides in the first.

I think his work in robotics will largely solve the second

If the infrared is beamed to a pv panel in the daytime, does it increase panel output (ir+sun) and if so, by how much?

Double?
December 11, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Another thought on space power. Musk (I think) floated the idea of data centers in orbit powered by ginormous solar arrays.

Instead of beaming focused mw, they would beam diffuse micro/milli watts of info. As starlink does, but moreso

Displacing need for gw for dcs on earth

Interesting and thanks for the math.

22% doesn't sound much different current efficiency

But, I think, it would be able to generate 24 hours a day giving capfac of 100 vs 20-25%

I've been a fan of space based power since the 60s.

I still suspect it is where Musk is headed
