The goal? To turn #SymbiontWorld into a feature film, series, or game.

I’m sharing my process through tutorials and masterclasses because I want to inspire more artists to build hopeful, sustainable futures. 🎨🏰

The story follows Bereneko and her plucky sidekick, Whaley, as they navigate ancient underwater ruins and mysterious floating anomalies.

It’s a teaser for a much larger universe I’m developing—a quest to heal the planet through bio-mimicry and courage. 🌿✨

If you want to level up your character design, follow along! 🎨

I’ll be dropping deep-dive tutorials and masterclasses here regularly.

What’s the one thing you’ve always struggled with in this style? Let’s tackle it. [3/3]

The "magic" usually comes down to three things: 1️⃣ S-curves for fluid motion. 2️⃣ Shape appeal (avoiding parallels!). 3️⃣ Cinematic lighting to sell the depth.

I’m moving away from just posting finished art to teaching the "how" behind the "wow." [2/3]

Or, it might be ego. The audacity of a visdev artist doing his little scribbles and berating the unsung heroes of the 3d department? Blasphemy!!! ;)
Btw love your work Ryan!

It's also a fear-driven pipeline decision. I worked in vfx for 10 years before jumping to preproduction. VFX sups are afraid to be technically creative, because it might backfire on them, might look unrealistic, or might make some revisions impossible, screwing up the deadlines and the budget.
