Touchdown! This beautiful #pelican came in for a landing on the old pilings at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. I locked on early and have a series of images of the flight in. #photography #birds #wildlife #wildlifephotography #EastCoastKin #birdsinflight

Bonjour, Susan! Another day a Paris for me. Writing this surreptitiously while in a meeting. A sneaky espresso for me today, please 🙏🏻

Thanks, Birdy 💙 I still read, just not enough. And that annoys me about myself.

Answer = try harder to read more!

If only life were that simple 😎

The rock churches of Matera, Italy 🌄🌟⛪
#RockinTuesday
Santa Maria de Idris is entirely carved into the rock, illuminated by the sunset as people ascend the stairs.

It’s a sure sign that he did it right 💙

Thems mean streets alright
Screen still of a young Robert de Niro in one of Martin Scorcese’s early masterpieces, Mean Streets. De Niro is pointing a gun at someone. He has a smile on his face. It is all rather sinister

Yeah, they bestowed this gift on me forever. I think I need some lifestyle changes, though, before I can get to the ‘voracious Susan Cushing level’ of novel consumption 😎

Of course it does. Helluva dad right there 💙

Sooooo gooood, ApeLife. I wish I could see those videos. It reminds me of my youth too. One weekend, me and my friends made a comedy horror movie on the video camera. We got through a lot of ketchup 🤣🤣🤣

Al, how can you have made a piece of art over 50 years old when you’re still such a young guy? The maths just don’t add up 😎

Wooooah. That was a tense read, but glad it all worked out in the end. And glad that ex was shifted out of the picture. Sounds like that was another silver lining from this cloud 🙏🏻

It’s such a beautiful story, Mimi. I want to be like him. But what does the last word in his note say? I can’t work it out

Wow, it’s a hell of a question. For me, I’d find it hard to look beyond the feeling I had the first time I held both my newborn daughters 💙

But one book that stays in my heart is To Kill A Mockingbird. It left such an impression on my teenage self. I still feel the emotion, the tears I cried, when I first read Scout Finch’s two words, “Hey, Boo”.

Never have two small words had such an impact on me, and probably never will again.

I found many of my favourite books and authors through those shopping trips: Irving, Vonnegut Jr, Hemingway, to name but a few.

I sometimes ask myself: what is my favourite novel? In many ways it’s an impossible question to answer. There are so many, each special in its own way.

When I was a teenager, from time to time my parents used to take us off late-night book shopping, always on the spur of the moment.

It was thrilling; I was free to browse for hours and choose whatever I wanted, coming home with a stack of books to last me for months.

I’ve always loved novels, although I don’t read as much as I want to any more. Too much life stuff going on.

But I’m a happier person when I’ve got a good book on the go. Novels enrich my soul and make me a more complete human being.

The paper back book cover of To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. This is the edition I first read as a teenager.

It is a black cover with white lettering for the name of the book (at the top) and author (at the bottom). A re outline drawing of a mockingbird stands in the centre lower half of the book cover

Bonjour, Susan! Je suis a Paris! Just for one night. It’s a work thing. Please can I have an espresso? It would be rude not to…
