I need to have another go at Thunder Helix. Looks like there's a lot more content since I played it

Interesting points. I was thinking they could sell it without much profit margin because they want to drive people to the Steam store, but as Linus said, if they price it too low then it'll just get bought up and repurposed by data centres and AI farms.

He said he'll eat a whole cake if he's wrong about the price. That's a reward, not a punishment.

Are they using proprietary hardware or just stuff we can buy ourselves?

Maybe not this model but surely a gaming PC with SteamOS is functionally identical to a Steam Machine. The only reason to get a Steam Machine would be price surely

Will we see a 2064 video about this?

Yessssss. Love this

My expectation was that there's no way this could be cheaper than a custom setup. Also since it's only running Steam it's inferior to a regular Linux setup. I guess it will appeal to people who want something out of the box. People who want a PC already have one I guess

So it's the nerd equivalent of a designer handbag?

The Steam Deck is different though. Is there another way to play Steam games on a portable device for a similar price?

The Steam Machine will likely be more expensive than alternatives that do the same thing. The same can't be said of the Steam Deck

I don't understand what's special about this. It's just a Linux PC with Steam branding. You can already get a PC and put Linux and Steam on it

I'd have to play it first. But then playing the lottery doesn't significantly increase your chances of winning it.
