Trying a different tack. Ran out of local mountain views to paint. Here's our local farmers' market on Main Street in Las Cruces. I haven't painted people for a while.

45 minutes east of Las Cruces, NM is the White Sands National Park. Fascinating gypsum dunes and a visitors' center built in the 1930s.

Haven't been to Hawaii since 2017. Too old to sit 8 hours in a plane these days. Here's a nice memory though. The painting shows a rain shower off the Makena beach on Maui. The bird is a Hawaiian stilt. I finished it yesterday,

We don't get a lot of clouds in the Chihuahuan desert. When we do the sunrise over the Organ mountains can be gorgeous.

Back in January I posted a photo of our unusual january snow. Some of the other pics I took that day turned out to be good subjects for a small (9"x 12") painting.

I usually paint from photos I took. This is an exception. Our daughter and son-in-law took a cruise around New Zealand and part of Australia. She took photos of this mountain (featured in Lord of the Rings films). The inset flower is the New Zealand "Christmas tree" - called pohutukawa by the Maori.

Here's something different. Las Cruces is in the Chihuahuan desert. Even though we are at 4000 feet, snow is a rarity. Yesterday I measured 0.4 inches of snow in the yard. Today its snowing again. Very strange weather these days.

Perhaps more of a science lesson than art. Three kinds of volcanic rock in the Organ Mountains in southern New Mexico, Light colored rhyolite, dark granite and yellow tuff (volcanic ash turned to rock).

My newest. Wailea surf based on photos from one of our trips to the southwest coast of Maui. Probably the last painting for this year.

I painted a series of landscapes of the 26 states we've stayed in. Each one includes an inset of the state bird. Here are a couple (Arizona and Kentucky):
