Greetings! Below are my composed submissions, not a minute too late!

Too many gases up in the sky
Make this earth too warm for you or I
Folks from near and far
Study CDR
For a brighter future, we must try

Haiku entry!

garnet tells stories
of high P-T formation
in its red layers

Entry # 2
Pasted below are my Pulitzer-worthy attempts at Haiku-writing.

Haiku 1 (random walk):
A drunk man comes back
Bars are the recurrent states
A drunk bird does not

Haiku 2 (Rayleigh-Benard Convection):
You're hot and you're cold
This is not Katy Perry
Convection persists

My mineralogic study of diffusion
Is sure to muster up confusion
But listen and see;
flowing REE's
is just a rocky-blood transfusion

(for rhyming context, REE's is spoken like "are-ee-ease", so it does rhyme with see)

I encourage you to email to the DGS up to five original limericks and/or haiku poems that engage with (1) your own research area, (2) your subfield in earth and planetary sciences (EPS), or (3) any general topic in EPS. Recall that a "limerick" and a "haiku poem" have strict formatting rules.

Dear Second-Year Graduate Students in Earth and Planetary Sciences,

How do you prepare for the pre-quals? I propose that you join a contest of creativity among all 2nd-year graduate students.
