For my tech friends, I wrote a walk-through tutorial about an open source tool for building dev platforms called Cyclops. Application developers deploy and manage their apps using the Cyclops UI (or CLI) and templates which are Helm charts.
It seems to me like using a GitOps approach could be overkill for testing environments

There are two approaches to GitOps: the push and the pull approach.
Either a tool outside the cluster pushes your code to it triggered by some event.
Or it's an inside job, in which case the code is pulled from git and applied to the cluster at a regular interval.

Fun fact: when Spotify built its own Internal Developer Platform (now known as Backstage), they realized that their developers were 5% more likely to stay at the company one year later.
