That was the beauty of the Marvel method. That writers would script to fill the space that artists left for them.
Of course, some writers fell in love with the sound of their own voices and overwrote books anyway and it put undue burden on the artists, but it made for some terrific comics.

I loved Master of kung fu and the title was what got me into it from the beginning. The art was what got me hooked.
