Spring will open plenty of spots, but it would be pretty abnormal for FA like Scott/Yates to wait 3 weeks to finalize contracts. We'll almost certainly see another 40 man move in the near future to accommodate them. Kike is a different story, even when there's 40 man space, 26 man space is tight.

You're reading this wrong. We're at 39 right now BEFORE adding Scott, Kirby, or Kershaw. It's clear that Kershaw is waiting for the 60 day IL to open back up in 3 weeks before signing, but still need to find at least one more spot between now and then so we can fit both Scott and Kirby.
