Sounds like her role is smaller than expected?

The lyric is actually "ah-matized," but apparently it's meant to be a censored version of "dick-matized"?

Weird variant of the Cassandra complex where people *want* to be Cassandras because it makes them feel self-important to say "I told you so"

I am not easily surprised by clips of Trump speaking, but I'm not sure I've heard that low, gravelly tone from him. Maybe as a momentary thing, but not so constantly.

I don't know the guy personally and can't say what's in his heart, but nothing he has written in the past 20 years would lead me to that conclusion.

He's not a real doctor, but he is a real worm

Easier to treat him as a set of superficial characteristics that might magically solve a puzzle.

Klein acknowledges that he has a personal line, but he worries that that line is irrelevant in public discourse given how many people seem not to share it. But it makes no sense to have two different lines, unless you value where you stand more than what you stand for.

My impression from the TNC interview is that he saw Trump's 2016 win as a flaw in the system that could be fixed with the kind of wonkish proceduralism he liked thinking about, but sees Trump's 2024 win as revealing essential truths about America that he doesn't know how to face.

IMO, the most revealing part is Klein wrestling with the question of where "the line" is (between acceptable and unacceptable politics). Realizing that what he considered past the line is now the GOP mainstream doesn't make him commit harder to fighting it. He wonders if he needs to move the line.

I studied abroad in the UK in the late '90s and lived off flapjacks. Was happy to see them on the show.

But that bill was awful. It was designed to accommodate Republicans and give them more of what they want. The problem is that Dems don't have a clear, proactive vision on immigration. The extremist Republican vision has become the dominant frame, and Dems end up just negotiating about the details.

Apologies to Mr. Cracker, but I think you know which one. :)

I do like your ideas for how to structure it, though.
