EMBRACE YOUR LIMITATIONS 🎥
If you only have an iPhone, make a movie with it 📱
If you can't afford costumes, raid your closet 👕
If you can't film a car chase, make it a foot chase 👟
If you can't film an explosion, hear it off screen 💥
The list goes on, and on...
FILMMAKING IS PROBLEM SOLVING 🎬

FILM PRODUCING TIP 🎬 - When you're scheduling your shoot, start by filming your simple scenes first (simple setups, limited special effects, limited action, dialogue driven, etc).

Getting through the simple stuff first will energize your team, and excite them when it's time to shoot the hard stuff.

The "DOUBLING" Method - A simple method to build a filmmaking portfolio and increase your skills 🎥

1.) Make a 5 minute short film
2.) Make a 10 minute short film
3.) Make a 20 minute short film
4.) Make a 45 minute pilot
5.) Make a 90 minute feature film
6.) Make a 120 minute feature film

WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR FILMMAKING SKILLS? 🤔 - Here's a fun, simple exercise...

Pick a SIMPLE scene from one of your favorite movies and attempt to recreate it (lighting, costumes, structure, pacing, etc) using the resources you have. Once you NAIL IT, move on to another scene slightly more difficult.

START WITH "WHY" 🎬 - To know WHY you're telling your story will ultimately serve your film & screenplay better than simply knowing your PLOT, because a story without purpose is a story that falls on deaf ears.

Ask yourself, "Why is this story important" and "Why does it need to be told now"?

Your imagination is like a gas tank. To keep your creative engines running, you need to fill your brain with as much fuel as possible:

1.) Read books 📘
2.) Research topics 📝
3.) Listen to music 🎵
4.) Visit museums 🖼️
5.) Explore nature 🌄
6.) Watch movies 🍿
7.) Travel ✈️

The best movie ever made is the one you haven't created yet. Tell the story you want to tell, and don't wait for permission. 🎬

Last night's episode of The Last of Us was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! What a shocking, and intense way to leave your audience dangling in suspense.

Make the movie you've always wanted to watch. 🎬

You can't make a good movie from a bad script. If your story hasn't been properly fleshed out, and the screenplay hasn't been thoroughly revised, getting it to its most cohesive form possible, your screenplay isn't ready for production.

Don't rush the process.

What's your favorite VAL KILMER movie? 🎥

Even though my childhood introduction to him was Batman Forever, his performance in KISS KISS, BANG BANG had me laughing harder than you can possibly imagine. 😂 Such an underrated film.

Val Kilmer will forever hold a special place in my heart. My introduction to him, like so many others, was in BATMAN FOREVER. While Michael Keaton will always be my Batman (I was born in 1989), Val Kilmer was the first actor I saw portraying the caped crusader on the BIG SCREEN.

R.I.P. Val 💔

FILMMAKERS! 🎥 - If you could make a live-action adaptation out of any animated film or TV show from your childhood, what would it be? 🤔

For me... It would be BATMAN BEYOND. 🦇📺

Last night's Oscars ceremony was REFRESHING; A fantastic change of pace for Independent Filmmaking.

Seeing Sean Baker win for Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Director, AND win Best Picture for "Anora" was like a dream come true.

LONG LIVE INDIE CINEMA! ♥️

There are a lot of great modern movie posters out there. I think the poster for James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie is no exception.

What are some of your favorites?

I think someone should start a YouTube channel called "Banned Books". For every episode, the author of the book - or a popular celebrity, if the author isn't alive - should come on and read the book aloud.

This way kids and young adults everywhere can hear the stories they need to hear. 📖

I'm looking to build an online community, centered around Filmmaking, Storytelling, Screenwriting, and creative development as a whole, in order to provide aspiring filmmakers valuable and useful information.

Not just "This camera is the best camera."

Who's with me?

My first official post on @bsky.app! I'm so happy to be on this platform. It's good to know there are still social media apps out there that aren't plagued by advertisements and controlled by dic-head-tators.

Cheers to new beginnings & free speech. 🥂
