A poem I wrote, which reads:

I lit the match, knowing it would hurt for both of us.
Some endings need to burn to be understood.
The bridges groaned, bright with memory before giving in to silence.
Now I walk alone through the smoke, grateful for the dream we built between us, palms open to the reality that asked for the flame.
Ash on my skin, the price of being honest
when there was nothing left to give.

There are days where
I feel both the bloom and the bruise.
A tenderness rising against the familiar weight.
Happiness does not erase the dark; it flickers within it,
a candle steady in the storm.
It isn't war,
but a quiet clash of currents: light rising, sorrow sinking, each insisting on its truth.
And still,
I drift between them, where ache and grace converge.
Together, they make me real.

My partner and I saw this yesterday. Predictable premise aside, The Rock surprised us and gave one of his most heartfelt performances yet. For someone known for action roles, this felt like the smartest step toward future work with real depth and emotional weight….if he seizes the next opportunity.
