When I was a drinking man I refused to by Jim Beam as I considered a half-step above rot-gut swill. Let the red-state distilleries wallow in their own demise.

My dad was a GP physician and smoked most of the 79 years of his life. He only quit when he was diagnosed with emphysema. He quit cold-turkey by telling himself, "It's something I used to do, but not any longer."

I quit with the same mantra after 20+ years. Can't imagine smoking now.
