Was over on the other place - feelin’ miserable - thinking “why am I doing this to myself?” I’m way late, but we need to stop giving the freaks oxygen.

Finally got around to KWAIDAN. Pretty amazing all around, but LADY OF THE SNOW was my favorite segment. Absolutely *devastating*.

DCEFF is very sad to learn about the passing of film legend Robert Redford. We were incredibly fortunate to have him join us at our 2012 Festival for the World Premiere of Jamie Redford's film "Watershed: Exploring a New Water Ethic for the New West".

One of my favorite writers taking a look at my favorite film! What a treat.
In the most recent edition of the LA Times' Boiling Point newsletter, OUT OF PLAIN SIGHT co-director Rosanna Xia writes about the evolving cultural and scientific impact of JAWS, which just celebrated its 50th Anniversary. www.latimes.com/environment/...
A PR makeover for sharks (think ‘Jaws’) could do a whole lot of good for the ocean
The film 'Jaws' has historically given sharks a bad rap, but the 50th anniversary can breathe new life into caring about the ocean.

I’m pretty tired of this post-truth world. There IS an objective reality. Not everything is up for debate or disputable.

Vaccines are good. Trump is in the Epstein files. Crime is down in Baltimore & DC. Vibes and loud voices don’t change that.

I know we’re all hoping his days are numbered but Mitch McConnell has been having strokes in public while looking like a corpse for years and he’s still a sitting Senator.
Trump is trying to hide the back of his right hand from cameras but here you can see the nasty bruising on it

You can argue all you want about who is the best presidential candidate - either morally or based on likelihood of success. But, when Election Day comes, if you don’t vote for the major party candidate closest to your beliefs (even if they’re far off & you hate them), then you’re just kinda stupid.

I live in Baltimore. I almost never feel unsafe here but am aware of the reputation. Comparatively, DC has always seemed even safer still. I’ve walked all over the District and taken transit very late and never has it occurred to me that I was in danger.
President Donald Trump explained the federal takeover of D.C.'s police force and deployment of 800 National Guard troops in part by saying that the physical appearance of the nation's capital was an important reflection on the rest of the nation.

@vulture.com names MURDERLAND by @calfraser.bsky.social a best book of 2025 so far! "Murderland reads like Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring meets Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood, told through the hypnotic, unwavering gaze that is entirely Fraser’s own." www.vulture.com/article/reco...

Does this future do anything to right past wrongs? No? Eeeeeeeat shit.
