Record number of people in ICE detention with no criminal history One of the most drastic changes in Trump’s first year is the way that immigration enforcement has changed. People with no criminal history are now the largest group in immigration detention. Line graph shows increase of people in detention broken out into three categories: people with a criminal record, people with pending charges, and people with no criminal record. Around the time of the government shutdown in October, the line for people with no criminal record climbs above the other two categories. Source: ICE. Note: Point-in-time counts every 14 days. Data includes people booked into ICE detention who were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
