It's so weird that the levels of government that have the biggest effect on the daily lives of citizens are seemingly the least interesting to politicians and the public.

I didn't suggest that nothing else happens beyond those two weeks. But many buildings are underutilized, there's 25 acres of paved parking and things like the boat show could literally happen anywhere. There's a lot more that can be done here with some vision and ambition.

I've always found it odd that some of the nicest buildings in the city are all grouped together and underutilized but there's a reluctance to do more with them and the land (parking lot) around it because we have to have space to host a two week carnival every year.
