It was a morning to remember, when we brought our Nordic vibes to the Fiesta Bowl Parade yesterday.

Alongside nearly 100 other incredible groups the Scandinavian Folkdancers of Phoenix lit up the street with dances, costumes, and unbeatable energy (in comfortable shoes). Talk about a workout…!

This week on the Read Across America book challenge, we celebrate Wyoming!

Story: "Brokeback Mountain" by Annie Proulx. This is a short story rather than a full novel - but in all honesty, I have not been able to dedicate as much time to this project the last weeks.
“Brokeback Mountain”
Fiction by Annie Proulx, from 1997: “They never talked about the sex, let it happen, at first only in the tent at night, then in the full daylight.”

This week on the Read Across America book challenge, we celebrate Utah!

Book: "The Monkey Wrench Gan" by Edward Abbey, actually covers the American Southwest, not only Utah. This is a seminal work about environmentalism - and despite the casual racism - is pretty entertaining.
The Monkey Wrench Gang - Wikipedia
Abbey's most famous work of fiction, the novel concerns the use of sabotage to protest environmentally damaging activities in the Southwestern United States, and was so influential that the term "monkeywrench," often used as a verb, has come to mean, besides sabotage and damage to machines, any sabotage, activism, law-making, or law-breaking to preserve wilderness, wild spaces and ecosystems.
