Yes, I guess these are the challenges we will be facing more and more...

Yes I know. I look forward to it 😊

Now there's an idea! Immediate 3D model as you look through the headset?

In this case, these are supposed to be the digital generations, and it's remarkable who unprepared they seem, to do the most basic of things...

I was told today by a student that the last time they had access to a computer was in primary school so they weren’t too familiar. But I’m glad they have me a heads up.

I’m finding the same thing, and other basic computer skills. Maybe they don’t and they may not have had access to a computer because everything is tablet based

People advocate for digital literacy which in our current world is fundamental. But what I’m finding is that kids don’t know how to operate a computer bc their digital literacy is tablet/smartphone based. Is this the end of computers or how useful is this kind of digital literacy for their future?

Not sure people realize how INSANELY DRAINING data centers will be on our planet.

If you imagine data centers as their own country, they'll rank fourth in global electricity use by 2035 — outranked only by China, India, and the U.S.

AI Data Centers Are Sending Power Bills Soaring
Wholesale electricity costs as much as 267% more than it did five years ago in areas near data centers. That’s being passed on to customers.

Well, to be honest I don’t see the situation being much better in other places at the moment…

You should see my country, not very different. It’s not a “country” problem right now, much more universal than that unfortunately

It’s that because there are so many foreigners here and so few heritage jobs British people can’t find work and are struggling. And can’t find jobs abroad because it’s difficult to do that now

As for LinkedIn no it isn’t

Do you mean back in 2016? No idea what the name of the person was…
joanavaldez.bsky.social
Thanks Dan. No, I don’t know them. They just started commenting on something I said in a post

Mind you this was just after the Brexit referendum, which was a few months earlier

I’ve only had a similar situation once with someone who was attending TAG 2016. They were alone at the pub and I saw the badge and invited them over. They were not an archaeologist, but were horrified that everyone in our table - all organisers - bar one were foreign…

They sound desperate, I understand. Just not sure why they picked me for this in a thread with more than 50 comments and so many people saying the same. Which essentially was that we’ve been told before that “we’re the right kind of immigrant” 🤷‍♀️

The suggestion is that I am a narcissist and a flying monkey living on an ivory tower who can just walk into my next high-powered job and therefore British people can’t find jobs in their own country (or any other). I’m trying not to engage too much but this has been going since yesterday

So much random hate I am receiving just now on LinkedIn for being a foreigner working in the UK. 🙄 From a peer, this is a new one for me…

Haven’t been able to access it yet 😔
