Carney is also known to be an exacting, no-nonsense boss. Yet some of what he says abt T sounds nonsensical. What does this reveal? IMO it's strategic. Not that he isn't sincere abt relationship-bldg, but he sees a risk and is handling it.

I wish he would lay it on a bit less thickly, though.

Ah, but that's not what he said. He said he understands why T was elected. This is a rather ambiguous statement. It also means this sort of strong, take-charge person is somethg a lot of Americans want. And the part abt how curious T is abt things says more abt MC than abt T. T asks him questions!

I think it's a combo of strategy (incl the fact that T is fixated on what ppl say about him) & perhaps somethg as simple as kindness. I don't think they're buddy buddy exactly. He wouldn't say so bluntly that the US could be excluded from certain trade ("coalitions of the willing") if this were abt

but I think he just sees things on a different plane than most of us. Most of us aren't comfortable w discomfort to the extent he seems to be. Defending our emotional turf can get in the way of seeing the fuller picture clearly.

It gets better after that, tho. I love his comments abt "other cards" & his reiteration abt (my wdng) working w/in a new multi-dimensional reality. He's very realistic abt how things have shifted.

Many ppl struggle to see how he can mean the old relationshp is over & still deal so positively w DT,

On the other hand, this reveals why he's able to see positive traits in someone who seems to have none (DT): he apparently draws them out somehow, by focusing on potential common ground & not letting himself be distracted.

His narrative is sane and calm. I could learn from his ability to focus on potential in the midst of risk.

Beddoes, though! "They have the cards...the economy & the security. You can't even defend the Arctic right by yourselves." 😠

...I could also use a dose of his ability not to react.

I'm sure he doesn't, but avoiding T or acting fearful or hostile would make things worse. I'm pretty sure MC has prevented some nasty stuff to date with his approach.

Yes, but the media's cooperation in this would add incredibly to the efforts of individual citizens. If only there were a way to get rid of tainted foreign-based media like Postmedia. Also the Epoch Times and so on, but getting at the more mainstream root of this would be huge.

Clergy sexual abuse is not an affair; pedophilia is not about struggling with difficult circumstances; molesting adolescents is not about a struggling marriage. Such things must be called by their right names—the abuser needs to be held responsible for their abusive behavior.
