I teach music in a middle and high school and I absolutely adore my theater kids. I’m convinced that our theater program has saved the lives of more than a handful of kids who needed a place that would accept and celebrate who they are. Some of the kindest kids in the school.

The decision was clearly made by someone who
A- isn’t in the classroom
and
B- isn’t in charge of making the holiday magic happen at home. Someone else must do the cooking and prepping in their house.

Veteran teachers, especially outside of the admin’s content specialty, have a lot to offer if only someone would ask questions instead of telling us that we’re not meeting the expectation on a mediocre rubric designed by someone at state ed dept who probably hasn’t taught.

I wish evals started with being asked about what they’re going to see us teaching, maybe how and why. Also recognition that things look different in dif. settings- as a music teacher, formative assessment and feedback are constant but informal and an admin might not recognize it.
