It’s wild to suggest that even in a society with general ideas of military service, that kids in basic training start out at a military standard of discipline and bearing. I am a spouse of a combat veteran, my brother was a drill sergeant, my grandpa had a silver star, and you can go jump in a lake.

I think you’ve fundamentally misunderstood The Burn and the impact it had. Many of these people have had zero contact with each other, the Federation, or Starfleet for generations. They’re taking math/science exams, not pew-pew exams. I think they’re excited to go somewhere at Warp speed.

It isn’t resulting in a military not wanting to act as a military. It is some people wanting to restart something with a new vision but the same name. Again, they literally have the War College.

And yeah, this post is gatekeeping. Also, WILD take. Absolutely unhinged.

I don’t think the writers forgot anything, especially considering The Burn, the fact that there is a war college, and them explicitly stating they’re making something new. Post-Burn Starfleet SHOULD be different. That didn’t mean you have to like it, but some of us do, and we’re real fans too.

I don’t want to just give a like, because I know it’s hard to go through that. I really admire you for continuing to put yourself out there.

Yikes! My partner is constantly worried my child or I are going to burn our house down with candles or unattended fires. I only REALLY worry about it when we bring in wood from the wood pile, because that stuff pops. Mostly we use Duraflame, which are very sedate, as fires go.

Any chance this can be purchased as a print? I’d love to hang it next to my @tomgauld.bsky.social “Mrs. Tittlemouse” print.
