It’s an honor as Assessor to play just a small role in supporting those who have done so much for us in administering the Disabled Vets Prop. Tax Exemption to 240 households totaling over $40 million in assessed value—a 28% increase in households over the last four years through outreach.

This weekend we saw this in action at the SF Salutes Veterans Parade with neighbors, students and leaders coming together to celebrate service.

🚨Note: you are still responsible for paying your property taxes on time even if you have filed an appeal. This way you can avoid penalties applied for payment made after the due date. If you receive a reduction in value through an appeal, the Treasurer & Tax Collector will issue you a refund.

He stayed true to that same vision for his entire career. There was never a question of what he stood for. He lived a full and generous life, showing us what is possible when we think bigger and that our collective victories come from our strongest moral choices.

With gratitude and reverence for the sacrifices and courageousness of our workers, I’m reminded of what’s possible when we unite together towards common goals.

Happy Labor Day.

More often than not I look to the picture of César Chávez hanging in my office. It is a source of light during moments of darkness. Defending rights and changing power structures has never been easy. Yet, Labor has never shied away from this work.

We see it today in SF with local labor leaders who stand at the forefront of the resistance to the despicable acts of hatred and violence being committed, demanding basic decency. We see it in our history, both recent and past, in the fights for economic, social and environmental justice.
