Aha, my bad editors theory again

Man, you can do this with literary science and other humanities sciences too, can confirm. Not saying there’s some universal intelligence factor, but truth pretty works similarly across everything, so just working at it sincerely in any direction should teach a lot.

Fair, but good editors would have dealt with earlier

This is basically just my Very Hard Question: New York Post or ChatGPT? framing. (Alternatively: Eichmann vs AI.)
November 30, 2025 at 5:48 PM
(In short, it’s: There are too many bad editors and we should talk that more. Longer version gets into systemic, cultural and other reasons for it, noting there was never the changes promised after 2000 election/Jayson Blair/Judith Miller/etc. And as alway, love to the good editors.)

I call it my bad editors theory

But really, we’ve been led by people with weird religious beliefs forever, we just dressed it up better for a bit

The new part in moving past Age of Reason is acknowledgement by all that important decisions are being made for us by people who are not acting sane, sober, rational, etc. It’s destroyed central truths.
November 30, 2025 at 3:49 AM
Well, I have whole theory. Age of Craze theory, but it’s more that we’re revealing what’s always been. It’s combo of hand computers and social media offering unfiltered thoughts.

I call this framing the Very Hard Question: New York Post vs ChatGPT? (alternatively: Eichmann or AI).

Our current systems are broken. That’s context that can’t be ignored. Real world is the real world. We make it better, though.

November 28, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Oh, have you read Lonergan on the social surd? Really good info on the accumulating forces behind the decline

My theory is this is only reason he exists (I hate Jelly Roll) bsky.app/profile/jody...
I hate Jelly Roll so much and don’t think anyone actually likes him, some just get confused thinking that Post Malone got fat again

They made it so long and dropped my favorite part of book somehow (dwarf introductions to beorn)

Some things take teams
November 26, 2025 at 11:04 PM
Too many bad editors and we should talk about that more. Big part of the problem. Bad includes focusing too much on making copy sing and nice narrative flow, rather than communicating the truth. (And as always, love to the good ones.)

Kinda my bad editors theory

Yes, this is one reason I like to define time as sequential causation
