The difficulty with this was that it was only a norm, not a binding rule, that the president doesn't interfere with DoJ, so there was nothing to stop Trump from shredding it.

This is because the party leadership is feckless. If Schumer put major pressure on Dem senators to hold the line, with real consequences for defiance, he might lose a few but would have enough to support a filibuster. McConnell would do that when he was minority leader. Schumer won't.

She married a man who was worth about that amount.

But did anyone tell MAGA that they aren't white? They are almost all Inuit.

Fun (?) fact: your main character had the same title that Stephen Miller has (deputy chief of staff).

The state of Minnesota needs to prosecute that agent.

Bogus. Installing Machado would have required an occupying force to keep Maduro's people from immediately deposing her. They grabbed Maduro and left, which put the VP in power, and she says Maduro is still president and she is an acting president.

The senile old figurehead is taking a shot at her.

He knows he is impaired and he is trying to reassure himself that he is not. If you compare how verbally adept he was 10 years ago when he was humiliating all his GOP opponents, to the gibbering idiot he is now, it is clear how much he has slipped, and he wasn't that bright back then.

I could understand keeping an account so a journalist can read what is going on with the right wing (likewise for Truth Social). But actively posting there? Just stop. And paying Elon for a premium membership? That is Nazi stuff.

Sorry, no. He is still just an anti-Trump Republican and thinks that way, and he would be a no vote on most bills that are in any way progressive.

But there will be a trial, so at least they will have to deal with that.

They could impeach Bondi if they can round up a few Republicans who are angry about her defiance of the law. They could probably persuade a few if they say that they will withdraw the impeachment if she complies and fully releases the files without redactions (other than of victim names).

Clinton had much more association with Epstein than just that "stiff autograph photo". Not as much as Trump who was Epstein's best friend for a decade, but there's no reason to protect him. Democratic administrations prosecuted corrupt Democrats because they are not like the GOP.

I assume Pfizer and Moderna (and others) will sue them. What a load of crap.

The reason the Indiana GOP doesn't want to pass it is that with a big swing, Trump's preferred map might wind up helping Democrats*gain* seats, because the margins will be so thin. The Texas gerrymander has a similar problem.

It all depends on whether, after a D victory in 2028, the Supreme Court is expanded. If it isn't expanded, the current SCOTUS will be the true governing body of the country, like the Iranian Council of Guardians, and they'll declare every Dem reform unlawful and let the red states go nuts.

This is what discharge petitions are for. You only need all the Democrats and three or four Republicans, and it may well be doable.

I expect that the commander, if he appears, will plead the 5th amendment, unless he has been promised a pardon.

ACA tax credits are hugely important. We have a relative in her early 60s who owns her own business, has been barely making it, who will now have a massive insurance bill that she has no way to afford. Tens of millions are in the same boat. This was achievable, stopping ICE via shutdown was not.
November 10, 2025 at 8:25 PM
Yes, he was picked because he was a bland boring white guy who the consultants figured would not offend anyone.
November 10, 2025 at 8:21 PM
No, they did not help move an old GOP bill. This is a new bill, and the House has to pass it to end the shutdown. It is a shit bill, brutal to people getting their insurance through the ACA. But it doesn't go into effect until the House reconvenes and approves it.

At which point Senate Democrats will cave again if Trump hangs tough. They have already demonstrated that they will.
