Streisand is definitely too old for Gypsy unfortunately but Close is definitely not for Sunset, her being older than Swanson helps the character.

I’d also put Sandy Dennis on here too- she’s great and a fine winner but it’s not one of the greatest ever to me.

.. she is very convincing in the part but that isn’t her fault. Kim Hunter in A Streetcar Named Desire is one of the most overrated winners IMO. She’s good in the part but it’s hardly an amazing performance. Same with Ruth Gordon in Rosemary’s Baby.
