There is only one way to combat Facebook. Leave the platform. Not just stop using it, delete your account. Expecting them to "do better" is a farcical dream.

Because of external factors, this weekend’s Gist came out on Tuesday.

I've always found the standard web UI to @mongodb.bsky.social Atlas frustrating and not very developer centric, so I created my own Interface with the help of Claude. You will need an API key or a service account to use it: pypi.org/project/atla.... Docs are at atlasui.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

It takes 10 minutes to create a @mongodb.bsky.social Atlas cluster. Atlas desperately needs a fast starting, single node, throwaway cluster for development. Cap the CPU and Storage its for single developers and small teams anyway and make it start fast. Happy to pay for it, but make it cheap.

The Irish Times published and lauded John Collison's op-ed, but did they fact-check it?

Andrew Jackson did. Thoroughly.

If you spent time reading the original, you'd want to give time to this counterpoint as well.

Switched from AWS to Digital Ocean for development. Easier to use and they actually spent more than 100 dollars on the user experience. Cheaper as well.

2025 and MongoDB still takes 10 minutes to provision a new Atlas Cluster?

Unfortunately, They can't do this because they intricately wedded the name of the cluster to its creation and that name is immutable. Doh!

You can have have a fast cluster, but its called A567HGF :-(

THe combination of Claude Code and Amazon Q makes deploying to AppRunner very straightforward. Especially when you just let Claude brute force your configuration until it works.

Top tip from @simonwillison.net :

Claude Code stores full logs of your sessions in ~/.claude/projects/encoded-directory/*.jsonl on your machine.

Claude Code has a nasty default behavior of deleting these after 30 days! But we can extend this...

Here is the fix : simonwillison.net/2025/Oct/22/...

One of the great values of vibe-coding with Claude Code is you never need to recreate your context window. Claude always has it. As a result you can easily sit down and do 20-40 minutes of useful work with multi-hour breaks in between.
