I decode what words hide behind the headlines
🎙️Host of ‘The Diplomat’ | Award-winning journalist | Georgetown alum
Even when I was covering danger zones, I experienced an inner sense of joy for bringing a story or a truth. when I created “The Diplomat,” I felt that joy too.. but lately, there’s anxiety from something imbalanced and maybe it’s telling me to refind the joy and always listen to the inner voice

Survival mode has been rebranded as normal, and naming it still feels taboo

When individuals start doubting their own perceptions, that’s not a personal failure. It’s a predictable outcome of living in a society where information is filtered to serve concentrated power. Hopelessness, in that sense, is not a psychological condition, it’s a political achievement.

Surveillance & AI are tools: they don’t enforce justice on their own
We must ask: “Who watches the watchers? What accountability exists when the surveillance machinery errs or is abused?”
In the rush to harness tech, we must not sacrifice the soul of our public life.

Lebanese people,
We learned to admire our colonizers so much that we now erase ourselves to be more like them?
Until we face the truth of internalized colonialism & stop measuring ourselves by someone else’s standards, we’ll remain mentally colonized

Respect begins with refusing to erase yourself.

statesmanship is dead.
When everything is at volume 11, people tune out.
There is an epidemic of cognitive fatigue.

This mixes vague threats, personal grievance, and major policy shifts into a public statement without context or coordination. That’s volatile. And in nuclear diplomacy, volatility gets people killed.

This was a political assassination in the US, the first one in 47 years!!!!!

The last successful political assassination was in 1978, when Harvey Milk, a San Francisco city supervisor and one of the first openly gay elected officials in the country, was shot and killed

Holistic communication tip:

Check the body before the mouth.
If your shoulders are tight or your jaw is clenched, your words will carry that tension. Soften the body first, then speak.

Fear doesn’t get to be the author of our next chapter. We do.

I am a journalist at heart. Not an influencer. My job is not to compete. It’s to inform.
My job is still to report facts, not chase trends.
To ask hard questions without fear, not follow algorithms.
In an age where noise is currency, I still believe clarity is power.

I don’t mind losing people if it means holding on to myself. It’s not easy letting go of connections, but over time, it’s become clear to me that preserving my peace, my integrity, and my sense of purpose matters more than keeping people around who can’t meet me where I truly am.

A friend said: 'Networking feels fake!
I agreed.
I told her: 'Forget 'connections! Our goal? It should be to find just 2 people we could text at 2 a.m. when life explodes.

Living resilience in a moment like this means shifting the focus from “How will I survive all of this?” to “What is the next small step I can take?” Maybe it’s a deep breath. Maybe it’s making one phone call.
