You’re right. But it could also be the case that some people cynically think that activists only come and talk to them when it suits them (the activists) because the latter aren’t embedded in the formers’ communities.

I thought here that the suggestion was that people get annoyed with activists coming with their own concerns (obviously v legitimate in this instance)without listening to ordinary people as a matter of course. Hence Hallam’s reply. I can see what you mean tho — perhaps full vid gives more context?
