There is some evidence that public support rose after implementation (e.g. CC in London, various cities in Norway, Stockholm), but as far as I know there wasn't simultaneous investment in public transit -- I think the sense is people responded positively to reduced congestion!

Returned to my alma mater for the weekend. Little has changed since I started my graduate studies in 2016; it's still beautiful in the autumn, my favourite cafe is thriving, and social science students are debating "how the Democrats recover from this"
